| Short bio: Dr. Marlin is an expert on the economies of New York City and other large cities. He is a pioneer in comparative analysis of government performance and has written 15 commercially published books comparing large cities and other units of government. He is also pioneered in the measurement of corporate environmental and social responsibility. Before starting CityEconomist in February 2006, he was from 1992 to 2006 Chief Economist and Senior Policy Adviser in the Office of the New York City Comptroller for more than 13 years, spanning three New York City Mayors and Comptrollers. He prepared official estimates of the economic impact of both the 1993 and 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. As for the past five years, in Spring 2007 he will teach an MBA-level course in Corporate Social Responsibility as Adjunct Professor of Business Ethics in the Markets, Ethics & Law Program at NYU's Stern School of Business. In Summer and Fall 2006 he taught Finance and Economics at Pace University's Lubin School of Business and the White Plains program of the Dyson School of Arts and Science. A graduate of Harvard (A.B. cum laude), Oxford (BA, MA) and George Washington (Ph.D. in economics) Universities, he served as an economist for five years with the Federal Reserve Board, SBA and FDIC in Washington, DC. He then became Assistant Professor at Baruch College, City University of New York, and subsequently served as President/CEO of the Council on Municipal Performance and JTM Reports.
